Members with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Homicide Detail continue to investigate the incident that occurred on the east sidewalk of Southwest 6th Avenue between Southwest Harrison Street and Southwest Montgomery Street.
The three adult female victims continue to receive treatment for their injuries at Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU). One of the victims is currently in critical condition, another is in serious condition, and a third victim has requested that no information be provided about her condition. OHSU personnel have contacted each of the victims' families.
An alert community member learned the description of the vehicle believed to be involved in this incident. They contacted 9-1-1 after observing the matching vehicle near Northeast 16th Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street. Officers immediately responded to the area and contacted the occupant of the vehicle. At this time officers have taken the occupant of the vehicle into custody. The occupant is a person of interest in this investigation. The vehicle was also seized as evidence. The person of interest has been transported to a police facility for further investigation.
At this time the Police Bureau does not believe there are outstanding suspects or vehicles associated with this investigation. There is not believed to be additional danger to the community in connection with this incident.

On Friday, May 25, 2018, at 10:04 a.m., Portland Police Bureau Central Precinct officers and Portland State University Police officers responded to the report that three pedestrians were struck by a vehicle while on the east sidewalk of Southwest 6th Avenue between Southwest Harrison Street and Southwest Montgomery Street.
Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and located three adult women suffering from serious injuries. Emergency medical responders provided medical aid to the injured women. All three were transported to area hospitals by ambulances. Investigators have learned, two of the injured women suffered what are believed to be serious life-threatening injuries and a third has serious and believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers believe a fourth person may have been injured during this incident, but has not been contacted by officers or emergency medical responders.
Members of the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Homicide Detail, Traffic Division, and Forensic Evidence Division have responded to investigate this incident.
This investigation is in its early stages. More information will be released as it is learned.
It is anticipated Southwest 6th Ave will be closed to all traffic between Southwest Montgomery Street and Southwest Harrison Street for the next four to five hours as this investigation continues.
