Stabbing Investigation Wednesday Afternoon in Portland's Hazelwood Neighborhood -- One Person Injured - 05/23/18

On Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at 2:16 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a stabbing in the 9800 block of East Burnside Street.

Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived and contacted an adult male who appeared to have been assaulted with a knife. Medical personnel transported the victim by ambulance to a Portland area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Based on preliminary information, investigators believe a disturbance began at the Gateway Transit Center, located at 9900 Northeast Multnomah Street. The people involved in the disturbance moved to the 9800 block of East Burnside Street where the stabbing took place.

Officers searched the area, but have not located a suspect at this time. Based on information learned in the investigation, there is not believed to be an immediate danger to the community in relation to this incident. There is no suspect description to share with the public at this time in the investigation.

Criminalists with the Portland Police Bureau's Forensic Evidence Division have responded to assist with this investigation.
