CORRECTION: Shooting Investigation Late Friday Night in Portland's Sumner Neighborhood - No Known Injuries - 05/19/18

This shooting investigation took place near Northeast 92nd Avenue and Northeast Wygant Street.

On Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11:12 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of gunfire near Northeast 92nd Avenue and Northeast Wygant Street.

Officers arrived in the area and contacted several witnesses. Based on information learned at this time, officers believe the occupants of two vehicles, that traveled south on Northeast 92nd Avenue from Northeast Wygant Street, fired guns.

During the investigation, officers canvassed the area, searching for possible victims, suspects and evidence of gunfire. Officers also went door to door in the area of the reported shooting to locate witnesses and investigate if any residences were struck by gunfire. Evidence of gunfire was located and seized on Northeast 92nd Avenue between Northeast Sandy Boulevard and Northeast Wygant Street.

There were no injured persons located at the scene of this shooting or at area hospitals. There were also no reports of any property damage as a result of this shooting.

The two vehicles believed to be involved with this shooting investigation were described as a silver four door sedan and a dark colored four door sedan. There are no descriptions available to provide to the public regarding the occupants of the vehicles at this time in the investigation.

Based on the preliminary information, the Gang Enforcement Team will be conducting the investigation. Anyone who witnessed this shooting or who possesses video surveillance footage of the shooting is asked to contact the Portland Police Bureau's Tactical Operations Division's Gang Enforcement Team at 503-823-4106.

The Portland Police Bureau works closely with Enough is Enough PDX, a community-led campaign aimed at encouraging people to take a stand against gang violence in the area.
