11 Citations Issued During Tuesday Evening #VisionZero Traffic Safety Mission on SE 82nd Ave (Photo) - 05/15/18

During the early evening hours of Tuesday, May 15, 2018, members of the Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division conducted a Vision Zero traffic safety mission along Southeast 82nd Avenue between Southeast Division Street and Southeast Foster Road.

Officers focused on dangerous behaviors and the officers were free to make traffic stops on drivers, pedestrians and bicycle riders as they saw appropriate. The officers were encouraged to share information about the Vision Zero program during these contacts. As always, officers were allowed the discretion to issue citations, warnings or classes.

During this traffic safety mission, 11 citations were issued along with two written warnings. Five of the 11 citations issued were for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Using a Mobile Electronic Device.

The Traffic Division will be conducting future enforcement missions as staffing allows.

The Portland Police Bureau is committed to working with our partners in government and the community to create safer streets and work towards reducing, and eventually eliminating, traffic fatalities as part of Vision Zero.
