41 Citations Issued During Thursday Evening #VisionZero Traffic Safety Mission (Photo) - 04/13/18

During the evening hours of Thursday April 12, 2018, members of the Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division ( https://www.portlandoregon.gov/police/30559 ), partnered with officers from Central, North, and East Precincts, to conduct a Vision Zero traffic safety mission along Southeast Division Street and Southeast Stark Street from Southeast 92nd Avenue to Southeast 148th Avenue. The roadways in the area of Thursday's mission are designated Vision Zero high-crash corridors.

Officers focused on dangerous behaviors and the officers were free to make traffic stops on drivers, pedestrians and bicycle riders as they saw appropriate. The officers were encouraged to share information about the Vision Zero program during these contacts. As always, officers were allowed the discretion to issue citations, warnings or classes.

During this traffic safety mission, 41 citations were issued along with 31 written warnings.

The Traffic Division and precinct personnel will be conducting future enforcement missions as staffing allows.

The Portland Police Bureau is committed to working with our partners in government and the community to create safer streets and work towards reducing, and eventually eliminating, traffic fatalities as part of Vision Zero.
