On Sunday, March 18, 2018, at 2:13 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report that two pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the 12400 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard.
Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and located an adult male and female laying in the roadway. The male pedestrian was suffering from what were believed to be serious non-life-injuries and an adult female was suffering from life-threatening-injuries as a result of the crash. Medical personnel provided medical aid and transported both to an area hospital by ambulance.
Based on preliminary information, officers believe the pedestrians crossed Southeast Powell Boulevard when they were struck by a grey Chevrolet HHR that traveled westbound on Southeast Powell Boulevard. The adult male driver of the Chevrolet HHR remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding and will continue the investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division are also responding to assist with this investigation.
During this crash investigation Southeast Powell Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic between Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast 127th Avenue.
