33 Citations and 16 Warnings During Thursday #VisionZero Traffic Safety Mission (Photo) - 03/16/18

During the evening of Thursday, March 15, 2018, members of the Portland Police Bureau's Traffic and Tactical Operations Divisions, East, North and Central Precincts conducted a Vision Zero traffic safety mission along Southwest Barbur Boulevard between Southwest Hamilton Street and the City of Tigard. Traffic crash data has identified this area as a high crash corridor.

Officers focused on dangerous behaviors and the officers were free to make traffic stops on drivers, pedestrians and bicycle riders as they saw fit. The officers were encouraged to share information about the Vision Zero program during these contacts. As always, officers were allowed the discretion to issue citations, warnings or classes.

During this traffic mission officers patrolled on motorcycles and in patrol vehicles and issued a total of 33 citations and 16 written warnings.

The Traffic Division will be conducting future enforcement missions as staffing allows.

The Portland Police Bureau is committed to working with our partners in government and the community to create safer streets and work towards reducing, and eventually eliminating, traffic fatalities as part of Vision Zero.
