UPDATE: Suspect Arrested During Wednesday Morning Stabbing Identified (Photo) - 03/14/18

The suspect arrested by East Precinct officers during a stabbing investigation this morning has been identified as 63-year-old Michael J. Delsman. Delsman was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Assault in the First Degree.

On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 6:44 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a male threatening a store employee with a knife at the Everyday Food Mart, located at 7020 Southeast Foster Road.

As officers responded to the scene they learned the suspect had injured the adult female employee with the knife. When officers arrived at the Everyday Food Mart they found the victim detaining the suspect. Officers took the suspect into custody without incident.

Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and provided medical aid to the victim. The victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers continue to investigate this assault. Criminalists with the Portland Police Bureau's Forensic Evidence Division have responded to assist with the investigation. Detectives with the Detective Division's Assault Detail are leading the investigation.

The suspect and the suspect's charges will be identified after he is lodged at the Multnomah County Jail.
