The suspect arrested after a vehicle pursuit and neighborhood search Tuesday morning has been identified as 22-year-old Joel Miranda.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle Miranda drove during the investigation of a shooting in the 3300 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue. Miranda's BMW matched the description of a vehicle believed to be involved in the shooting.
Miranda was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Driving While Suspended -- Misdemeanor, Attempt to Elude by Vehicle (two counts), Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangering (two counts), Attempt to Elude on Foot, Fail to Perform the Duties of a Driver -- Property Damage, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
The shooting investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about the shooting should contact the Portland Police Bureau Tactical Operation Division's Gang Enforcement Team at 503-823-4106.

On Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 4:05 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the reports of gunfire in the 3300 block of Southeast 82nd Avenue.
When officers arrived on scene they evidence of gunfire. As officers continued to canvass the area they found damage consistent with bullet strikes at the KFC, located at 8131 Southeast Powell Boulevard.
Based on information learned during the investigation, officers believe two people were shooting at one another. After the shooting, the suspects left the area in different vehicles.
As officers investigated the shooting, a description of one of the involved vehicles was learned and broadcast to officers in the area. Officers searched the area for the involved vehicles and suspect.
An officer located a vehicle matching the suspect's vehicle description, a dark blue BMW, near the intersection of Northeast 102nd Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver of the vehicle, the driver continued driving and would not stop. Officers pursued the vehicle. Near the intersection of Northeast Killingsworth Street and Northeast Columbia Parkway the driver of the suspect vehicle crashed into a truck. After the crash, the driver of the BMW fled on foot. Officers contacted and assisted the driver of the truck and learned he was not injured. Additional officers established a perimeter and a group of officers, with the assistance of a canine team, searched the area. The suspect was located and taken into custody near 8505 Northeast Columbia Parkway.
Officers continue to investigate the shooting and remain at the scene near Southeast 82nd Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard. An investigation to determine the involvement of the driver of the BMW that fled from officers and his relation to the original shooting also continues.
There were no reports of injuries or people arriving at area hospitals as a result of this shooting.
During this investigation northbound lanes of Southeast 82nd Avenue between Southeast Powell Boulevard and Southeast Franklin Street will be closed. Additionally, traffic will be impacted near the location of the crash between the suspect vehicle and the truck, near the intersection of Northeast Killingsworth Street and Northeast Columbia Parkway.
The driver that fled from officers in the BMW and then on foot will be identified after he is lodged at the Multnomah County Jail.
Based on information learned at the scene, the Gang Enforcement Team responded to assume the investigation.
