UPDATE: Pedestrian Dies of Injuries Sustained During Sunday Evening Crash - 03/13/18

The pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Sunday evening in the 11500 hundred block of Southeast Division Street has died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The pedestrian was identified as 74-year-old Fuk K. Chan of Portland. Chan died on Monday, March 12, 2018 at an area hospital.

The driver remained at the scene and has cooperated with the investigation.

This is the seventh traffic related fatality investigated by the Major Crash Team in Portland during 2018.

The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division's Major Crash Team continues to investigate this crash. Anyone with information about this crash should contact Officer Garrett Dow at 503-823-5070 or Garrett.Dow@portlandoregon.gov

The investigation will be presented to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review and consideration upon completion.

On Sunday, March 11, 2018, at 8:25 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the 11500 block of Southeast Division Street.

Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and located an adult male laying in the roadway. The male was suffering from serious injuries as a result of the crash. Medical personnel provided medical aid and transported the man to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment of what are believed to be serious life-threatening injuries.

Based on preliminary information, officers believe the male pedestrian crossed Southeast Division Street near Southeast 115th Avenue when he was struck by a Nissan Quest minivan that traveled eastbound on Southeast Division Street. The adult male driver of the Nissan Quest remained at the scene.

The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division's Major Crash Team is responding and will continue the investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division are also responding to assist with this investigation.

During this crash investigation Southeast Division Street will be closed to vehicle traffic between Southeast 112th Avenue and Southeast 117th Avenue.

This investigation is ongoing. No additional information is expected to be provided regarding this crash this evening.
