27 Citations and 4 Warnings During Tuesday #VisionZero Traffic Safety Mission (Photo) - 02/14/18

On Tuesday, February 12, 2018, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., the Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division conducted a Vision Zero traffic safety mission along Southeast 92nd Avenue between Southeast Stark Street and Southeast Foster Road. Traffic crash data collected during January 2018 identified this area of Southeast 92nd Avenue as an area that would benefit from a traffic safety mission.

Officers focused on dangerous behaviors and the officers were free to make traffic stops on drivers, pedestrians and bicycle riders as they saw fit. The officers were encouraged to share information about the Vision Zero program during these contacts. As always, officers were allowed the discretion to issue citations, warnings or classes.

During this traffic mission officers patrolled on motorcycles and in patrol vehicles and issued a total of 27 citations and four written warnings.

The Traffic Division will be conducting future enforcement missions as staffing allows.

The Portland Police Bureau is committed to working with our partners in government and the community to create safer streets and work towards reducing, and eventually eliminating, traffic fatalities as part of Vision Zero.
