###ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW###

On Sunday, January 21, 2018, at 6:17 p.m., Central Precinct and North Precinct officers responded to the report of a crash and gunfire on northbound Interstate 405 near the south end of the Fremont Bridge.

Officers arrived and learned the driver of a dark green Dodge pick-up reportedly crashed into the jersey wall barrier and multiple vehicles near the south end of the Fremont Bridge. As the driver of the Dodge pick-up left the crash scene, a subject fired multiple rounds at the Dodge pick-up.

As officers responded to the crash, they learned the dark green Dodge pick-up fled the scene. Officers learned the driver was near the exit from northbound Interstate 405 to North Alberta Street. Officers arrived and located the suspect and Dodge pick-up. The driver was taken into custody for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. The identity and charges of the driver of the green Dodge pick-up will be identified after he is lodged at the Multnomah County Jail.

Based on witness information, officers believe the subject that fired a weapon on the Fremont Bridge, fired a handgun at the tires of the dark green Dodge pick-up involved in the crash. Officers have located and seized the firearm used in this incident. The subject that fired a handgun has cooperated with the investigation. Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Assault Detail have been notified of the incident and will review information regarding the investgiation.

There were no reports of injuries as a result of the gunfire or crash. Northbound Interstate 405 was closed for approximately one hour during this investigation.
