UPDATE #2: Suspect Arrested During Tuesday Evening Tactical Incident Identified (Photo) - 01/17/18

The suspect taken into custody on Tuesday evening in Portland's St. Johns neighborhood has been identified 35-year-old Daniel L. Cronin. Cronin was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on two warrants for his arrest.

The suspect wanted by the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force has been taken into custody by Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) members. Members of the Washington County Sheriff's Office Tactical Negotiation Team (TNT) also responded and assisted with this incident.

Members of the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), SERT and TNT worked together for approximately three hours to take the suspect into custody.

The suspect's identity and charges will be released after he is lodged in the Multnomah County Jail.

Residents that were evacuated during this incident are being assisted back to their homes. Nearby community members no longer need to shelter in place.

Members of the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Robbery Detail and the Clark County Sheriff's Office Tactical Detective's Unit will continue this investigation.

No additional updates are expected this evening.

The Portland Police Bureau Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) have responded to the Ridgecrest Timbers Apartments, located at 8940 North Columbia Boulevard.

SERT and CNT have responded to the location to assist the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force on a tactical incident.

Out of an abundance of caution, during this SERT/CNT incident, residents of the Ridgecrest Timbers Apartments should shelter in place unless they receive directions from officers to do otherwise.

Interested media should stage at the northeast corner of North Columbia Boulevard and North Swift Court. Media staging may be adjusted if needed.

Media is requested not to broadcast live or via social media any officer positions or tactical information that may compromise public safety.
