CORRECTION - Shooting Investigation Underway in Downtown Portland - One Person Injured - 01/12/18

The victim in the shooting is a 19-year-old female, not a female in her 20s as initially reported.

The Bureau regrets the error.

The victim in the shooting is a 19-year-old female. She is expected to survive her injuries. The suspect in the shooting was not located during a search of the neighborhood.

On Friday January 12, 2018, at 11:32 a.m., Central Precinct responded to the 2200 block of West Burnside Street on the report of a shooting with one person injured.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the victim, who was suffering from a leg injury. The victim was transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital for treatment. The injury does not appear to be life-threatening.

Officers are in the neighborhood searching for the suspect, described as a black male in his 20s, thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweat pants, and red underwear.

Officers are searching the area of Northwest Irving to Burnside Streets, 21st to 24th Avenues.

The motive for the shooting is not known at this time.
