PPB Partners with Target to Host "Heroes and Helpers" (Photo) - 12/13/17

The Portland Police Bureau's Youth Services Division, Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT), and Target will co-host "Heroes and Helpers" on Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Jantzen Beach Target, located at 1555 N Tomahawk Island Drive, from 6:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m.

Members of the Youth Services Division will partner with pre-identified youth to assist them as they select clothing, school supplies, or toys for Christmas.

Officers assigned to the Youth Services Division chose youth whose families are in need of assistance this holiday season. Each of the selected youth will receive a $100.00 Target Gift Card to spend on a gift that they otherwise would not have been able to give or receive.

The Youth Services Division works with community partners to ensure Portland area youth remain safe. Ensuring school safety is the highest priority for the Youth Services Division. The Youth Services Division's main mission is to provide a school environment that is free of crime, the fear of crime, intimidation and disorder, so that school staff and students can achieve their education goals without distraction.

School Resource Officers work closely with school staff, students and parents. The primary activities of SRO are problem solving, education, mentorship, and crime prevention.
