Three suspects connected to a robbery and shooting on November 28, 2017, that left two people injured, have been taken into custody over the last several days. Arrested were 19-year-old Austen K. Herrmann; 22-year-old Julian M. Booker; and a 17-year-old male.

Based on information learned during the investigation, detectives identified Herrmann, Booker and the male juvenile as the suspects involved in the incident. Robbery Detail detectives broadcast information to Portland Police officers and surrounding law enforcement agencies with information about the three.

On Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 1:52 a.m., Multnomah County Sheriff's Office deputies performed a traffic stop on a 1999 Nissan Maxima in the 400 block of Northwest Frontage Road in Troutdale. During the traffic stop, a male exited the Nissan and ran from deputies. Deputies performed a search with a K-9 team; but the male was not located. Deputies believed the suspect who ran was Herrmann and one of the occupants of the vehicle was Booker, who was taken into custody.

On Thursday, December 7, 2017, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Portland Police Robbery Detail were at the arraignment for Booker in the Justice Center, when they observed Herrmann and the 17-year-old male in the building. Robbery Detail detectives took the 17-year-old suspect into custody at the courthouse, but Herrmann fled the area.

On Friday, December 8, 2017, at 12:34 a.m., Multnomah County Sheriff's Office deputies performed a traffic stop on a 1996 Lexus 300 near the intersection of Northeast Halsey Street and Northeast Market Drive in Fairview. During the traffic stop, deputies contacted, identified and arrested Herrmann. Deputies seized as evidence a firearm and a large amount of marijuana during an inventory of the vehicle.

Booker and Herrmann were lodged in the Multnomah County Jail and the juvenile was placed in the custody of the Donald E. Long Detention Home.

Booker was charged with Robbery in the First Degree, Kidnap in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree, and a warrant for a previous robbery with a deadly weapon charge.

Herrmann was booked on charges of Attempt Murder, Robbery in the First Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, Kidnap in the First Degree, Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Theft in the First Degree, Attempt to Elude on Foot, Interfering with a Peace Officer, Minor in Possession of More than Eight Ounces of Marijuana, False Information to a Peace Officer, and a warrant for a previous conviction of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

The juvenile was charged with Robbery in the First Degree and Robbery in the Second Degree.

On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at 12:41 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting in an apartment located on the 12200 block of Southeast Ramona Street.

As officers responded to the location, emergency dispatchers broadcast information that one adult male was shot. When officers arrived they located two injured men inside an apartment on the east side of Southeast Ramona Street. One of the adult males had what appeared to be a serious non-life-threatening gunshot wound and the other male had been assaulted. Officers immediately applied medical aid to the man who was shot, while additional officers searched the apartment and surrounding outside area for suspects.

Once officers completed a search of the apartment and determined there were no suspects in the apartment, emergency medical responders entered the apartment, provided additional medical aid and transported the man to an area hospital by ambulance. The second male who was assaulted did not require transport to an area hospital, but stated he would seek medical attention at a later time.

During the investigation, officers learned three suspects were invited to the victims' apartment as part of a business transaction. When the three men arrived they attempted to rob the victims, at which time, one victim was shot and the other assaulted. The suspects were described as three black males. Preliminary information suggests the victims knew the suspects.

The suspects have not been located at this time but based on information learned at this time in the investigation, it is not believed the suspects are an immediate threat to the public.

Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Robbery Detail and criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division have responded to assist with this investigation.
