On Thursday November 23, 2017, at 10:42 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to perform a welfare check on a man wondering in the area of Southeast 60th Avenue and Southeast Belmont Street.
Officers arrived in the area and located the person who had contacted the Bureau of Emergency Communications regarding the man. The caller had remained with the man as officers responded. Officers arrived and recognized the man as 61-year-old Ronald J. Aune. Aune was reported as a missing person at 5:54 p.m. on Wednesday evening. An extensive search was performed in the area Aune was last seen but he was not located during the initial search.
Once located, Aune did not require medical attention and his family was contacted and reunited with Ronald J. Aune.

On Wednesday November 22, 2017, at 5:54 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a missing endangered person in the 900 block of Southeast Lexington Street.
Officers arrived in the area and contacted family members of the missing man, 61-year-old Ronald J. Aune. Officers learned Aune was last seen near his residence in the 900 block of Southeast Lexington Street at 4:00 p.m. A canvass of Aune's home and property were performed and Aune was not located.
The Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Missing Person Detail responded to the scene and is currently assisting with the investigation. Investigators have learned Aune is 5'7" tall, weighs 150 pounds, has a mustache, blonde hair, and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing corrective eye glasses, a blue wool stocking cap, red and black plaid jacket, and blue jeans.
As officers performed additional searches and alerted TriMet, they were unable to locate Aune. Multnomah County Search and Rescue (SAR) was requested to respond and assist in the search for Aune.
Aune is an avid walker but he will be unable to find his way home in the dark.
