Officers Investigate Early Morning Shooting in the Hazelwood Neighborhood -- No Known Injuries - 11/13/17

On Monday November 13, 2017, at 5:51 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the 14200 block of East Burnside Street regarding damage to an apartment believed to be caused by gunfire.

Officers had responded to the same area at 3:35 a.m. this morning after a person contacted 9-1-1 and reported hearing gunfire. When officers arrived shortly after 3:35 a.m., they searched the neighborhood but did not locate evidence of gunfire, anyone who was injured by the gunfire, witnesses to the shooting, or possible suspects.

When officers arrived at the location shortly after 5:51 a.m. this morning, they were informed the occupants in an apartment awoke to find several bullet holes in their apartment walls. Officers searched a nearby parking lot and located additional evidence of gunfire. The apartment was occupied by two people at the time of the shooting and neither were injured as a result of the shooting.

Officers believe the damage located at 5:51 a.m. this morning is a result of the gunfire that was reported at 3:35 a.m. At this time there are no known injuries as a result of this shooting.

Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division responded to assist with the investigation.

Officers continue to investigate this shooting.
