Car Crashes Through Entrance Of Safeway (Photo) - 02/18/18

On Sunday February 18, 2018 at about 12:39 PM the Junction City Police and Fire Departments responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the front of the Safeway store located at 1755 Ivy Street. Upon arriving, officers determined that an 88-year-old male had driven through windows at the South-East entrance of the store. The path of damage went from the entrance, through the floral department, and ended in the produce section where the car came to a stop.

The vehicle was occupied by the driver and two other occupants who refused medical transport and were uninjured in the incident. One customer in the store was struck by debris from the collision and sustained non-life threatening injures.

The driver cooperated with investigators who determined the incident was accidental in nature and that no criminal charges will be filed, nor citations issued.

For further questions contact Officer Tim J. Garrity with The Junction City Police Department.
