Mrs. Hart Found Deceased (Photo) - 09/27/25

UPDATE 09/27/25 7:00 PM

RIDDLE, Ore. - At approximately 5:30 P.M., 9-1-1 dispatchers were advised that the body of Mrs. Hart was located near her residence. Deputies confirmed her death and have notified her next of kin.

The Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office has been notified and is investigating the death. There are no indications of foul play at this time.
 
The Sheriff's Office would like to thank the many volunteers and community members for their efforts in trying to locate Mrs. Hart. The men and women of the Sheriff's Office extend their deepest sympathies to the Hart family.
 
The Sheriff's Office was assisted by volunteers from Douglas County Search and Rescue, REACH Air Medical Services, Cow Creek Tribal Police Department and Myrtle Creek Police Department.
 
No further information is expected to be released at this time.

RIDDLE, Ore. - Deputies and Search and Rescue crews are actively searching for 90-year-old Riddle resident Shirley Hart. Mrs. Hart has dementia and wandered away from her home in the 1300-block of Canyonville Riddle Road sometime during the night. She is considered to be at risk.
 
Shirley has gray hair, weighs 90 lbs, wears dentures and is likely barefoot. Her clothing description is unknown at this time.
 
Residents in the immediate area of Shirley's residence are asked to check any unlocked vehicles or outbuildings as she is known to enter those and sleep.
