Washington Man Arrested for Assault on Public Safety Officer (Photo) - 07/16/21

OAKLAND, Ore. - A Washington man is in custody in Douglas County after he resisted being taken into custody and struck two deputies with his vehicle.

On Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 10:30 am, a deputy made contact with a driver of a Nissan Altima, that was pulled over on the side of the roadway in the 1600-block of John Long Road. The deputy identified the driver as 30 year-old Eliott Gregory Dussault of Kent, Washington. After learning Dussault had an active arrest warrant for Robbery in Washington, the deputy attempted to get Dussault to exit the vehicle, which he refused. The deputy assisted by another, attempted to forcibly remove Dussault from the vehicle, but were unable to do so. As deputies continued to remove Dussault from the vehicle, he put the vehicle in reverse and struck both deputies. Dussault ran over one of the deputy's legs before striking the driver's side of a parked patrol vehicle.

Dussault was confronted at gunpoint at which point he complied and was taken into custody. Neither deputy sustained life threatening injuries; however, one sought medical attention at Mercy Medical Center for his injuries. The deputy was ultimately released to full-duty.
