DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. - In conjunction with fire officials, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office is announcing a reduction in the Level 3 evacuation orders for parts of Idleyld Park.
Beginning at noon on, Sunday, September 13, 2020, residents living east of the Green Bridge in Glide, up river to the Narrows Wayside (Idleyld Trading Post), are now under a Level 2 "Be Set" evacuation notice (Please note: ODOT and Law Enforcement is unable to allow anyone past the road block at Idleyld Trading Post due to hazardous conditions that exist beyond the closure. Our partners at the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon State Police continue to assess and clear hazards. Any reduction in the remaining Level 3 "GO!" orders will be evaluated by the Sheriff's Office and fire managers). Additionally, residents living on Lone Rock Road and Terrace Drive have also been downgraded to a Level 2 "Be Set" notice.
LEVEL 2 "BE SET" means: YOU MUST PREPARE TO LEAVE AT A MOMENTS NOTICE. This level indicates there is significant danger to your area, and residents should either voluntarily relocate to a shelter or with family/friends outside of the affected area, or if choosing to remain, to be ready to evacuate at a moment's notice. Residents MAY have time to gather necessary items, but doing so is at their own risk. THIS MAY BE THE ONLY NOTICE YOU RECEIVE. Emergency services cannot guarantee that they will be able to notify you if conditions rapidly deteriorate.
"The reduction in these areas does not mean that the danger is gone. Residents, if deciding to return, must continue to monitor official sources of information and be prepared to leave at a moment's notice if the situation changes," said Sgt. Brad O'Dell. "Something residents should also be aware of is the current hazardous air quality in the area. Those with heart or lung health conditions, young children and those who are elderly should really take caution with the smoke."
Wildfire smoke has created very hazardous air quality conditions in Douglas County, conditions remain some of the worst air quality in the state. People with underlying lung or heart conditions, the elderly, children and pregnant woman are most at risk for health consequences of wildfire smoke pollution but at the current hazardous levels, all people should do their best to stay inside where air is cleaner. The current air quality index in Roseburg was 576 this morning at 10 am, compared to the top 10 cities worldwide with air quality index averaging 110-160 daily.
“We are experiencing extremely hazardous air conditions in the Umpqua Valley, due to wildfire smoke. Please take precautions to stay inside, filter your air flow inside when you can, don’t exercise outside and watch for respiratory distress. Please take special care of those loved ones with underlying lung or heart conditions, monitor air conditions throughout the day and do your best to stay inside until conditions improve.” Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer, Douglas County Public Heath Officer.

As a reminder, the Sheriff's Office, Board of Commissioners as well as representatives from the County and various partner agencies will host a private drop-in residential damage informational session today, Sunday, September 13, 2020, between 3 pm - 7 pm at Glide High School (18990 North Umpqua Highway, Glide, OR). This drop-in informational session is not open to the public or the media and only specific residents will be admitted from the areas described below. Proof of residency will be required and those attending are asked to adhere to COVID-19 recommendations.
This is a private session for the residents of the below listed locations who want to learn more about residential structural damage to their property and resources available to them. The Sheriff's Office has compiled a list of residences which have been damaged and will be sharing that information specifically with the residents of the following locations:

- Evergreen Springs Lane
- Evergreen Lane
- Honey Creek Road

- Rock Creek Road (and all side roads)

- Bar L Ranch Road (and all side roads)
- Terrace Drive
- Upper Terrace Lane
- Mystic Mountain Ln.
Information on resources will be available from various partner agencies such as Douglas Public Health Network, Red Cross, Douglas Forest Protective Association, Archie Creek Fire representatives and more. Residents will be asked to comply with COVID-19 recommendations and to show proof of residency prior to entering the building.
