Update: Investigation Underway in Reported Incident at Campground - 06/23/20

** UPDATE 06/23/2020 10:45 AM **

ROSEBURG, Ore. - Detectives are following up on the reported incident at Whistlers Bend Park. Investigators have been in touch with the man who made the post on social media. 

The investigation is ongoing and the case has not been resolved. Detectives will continue gathering all relevant facts, conducting interviews and attempting to collect evidence before a disposition on the case is made. 

Anyone with information which they believe may be helpful to investigators is asked to contact the Investigations Division at (541) 440-4458.

ROSEBURG, Ore. - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has just been made aware of a social media post where an individual reported finding a noose outside of his yurt over the weekend at Whistlers Bend Park. We are immediately opening an investigation. We take reports of potential hate crimes very seriously and will always investigate aggressively. We have not yet been contacted by the individual who posted the incident on social media, but ask they call us immediately at 541-440-4471 so that we may further the investigation.

The Sheriff's Office also asks anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators immediately, referencing the case number below.
