Deputies Seek Information on Transmitted Radio Communications - 12/03/19

ROSEBURG, Ore. - On Monday, December 2, 2019, at 5:09 PM, the Douglas County 9-1-1 Center received a call from a male who reported hearing a female on his walkie talkie radio who reported she had been shot by a male and was in need of medical attention.

Multiple emergency services were dispatched to the generalized area and searched for the reported victim. The caller told dispatchers the female was hysterical and could not provide an accurate description of where she was located.

During the investigation, deputies sent a reverse 9-1-1 to residents in the area asking them to call if they heard or witnessed any type of a disturbance. No additional information was received. Ultimately, law enforcement was unable to locate any victim.

"If this incident was fabricated, those involved can be held criminally liable," said Sgt. Brad O'Dell. Those responsible could face arrest for Disorderly Conduct (ORS 162.025) and/or Initiating a False Report (ORS 162.375)

Anyone with information as to the identity of the female or who may have information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at 541-440-4471 referencing incident 1912020287.
