UPDATE: Telephone Service Outage Affecting 911 - 12/19/18

***FINAL UPDATE***

The Douglas County 9-1-1 Center was notified that service to the affected areas was confirmed to be restored at 3:30 am on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. Residents previously impacted by the outage should now be able to use their landline telephones normally and also be able to dial 9-1-1.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. - The Douglas County Dispatch center has been notified of a telephone service outage affecting CenturyLink telephone customers in the Yoncalla, Elkton, Scottsburg and Loon Lake areas. The outage may prohibit citizens in those areas from dialing 9-1-1 to summon emergency services. 

Those who have been affected, may be able to dial 9-1-1 from a cellular device if they are within cellular service. The Elkton, Scottsburg and North Douglas Fire Departments have been manned with personnel. 

The outage is due to a cut fiber optic line and there is no estimated time of repair.
