Arrest Made in Tenmile Homicide (Photo) - 03/14/18

TENMILE, Ore. -- Detectives have made an arrest in the Tenmile homicide which was reported prior to noon today.

70 year-old Tenmile resident James Teddy Deramus was arrested and charged with fatally shooting 36 year-old Jonathan James Ackerman also of Tenmile. Deramus was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on a charge of Murder.

Detectives continue the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at (541) 440-4471 or email dcso.pio@co.douglas.or.us.

Next of kin has been notified.

No further information will be released tonight.

TENMILE, Ore. -- On Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 11:57 am, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a report of a probable homicide in the 100-block of Hidden Hill Lane.

Deputies and Detectives responded to the scene and confirmed the report. The Douglas County Major Crimes Team has been activated and is currently conducting an investigation into the death.

The public is asked to avoid the area using alternative routes, if possible.

The Douglas County Major Crimes Team is comprised of detectives from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, Roseburg Police Department and the Douglas County District Attorney's Office.

No additional details are being released at this time.
