Sheridan Man Arrested In Connection With Fatal Crash In Yamhill County (Photo) - 09/29/20

Yesterday, at around 4:09 pm, Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle, rollover crash that had just occurred in the 25000 block of Ballston Road. This location is approximately two miles southeast of the City of Sheridan.

A 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee was involved in a rollover crash which resulted in the death of the passenger, who was identified as 55-year-old Sheridan resident, Thomas Dean Rains.  He was ejected during the crash.

The driver was identified as 36-year-old Christopher Loran Davidson, also of Sheridan.  Davidson was taken to Willamette Valley Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries. He was taken into custody by deputies yesterday evening and lodged into the Yamhill County Correctional Facility on charges of Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants, Reckless Driving and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. His bail is currently set at $165,000.

The Yamhill County Multi-Agency Traffic Team (M.A.T.T.) was activated for the crash investigation.  Its members consist of deputies from the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, and municipal police departments within Yamhill County.  M.A.T.T.’s goal is to provide driving safety training and education to the public, enforcement in high risk areas, and investigate serious crashes within Yamhill County.
