Community Faith Organizations Unite To Beautify Yakima School District Elementary Schools - 03/10/26

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

YAKIMA, WA — Yakima School District is proud to recognize and thank 72 regional faith-based organizations that are coming together in a powerful show of service to support local elementary schools on Saturday, March 14, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

More than 150 volunteers will dedicate three hours of hands-on service to help beautify and refresh school campuses across the district. Volunteer teams will be working at the following elementary schools: Adams, Martin Luther King Jr., Barge Lincoln, Roosevelt, McKinley, and Ridgeview.

Throughout the afternoon, volunteers will assist with a variety of projects, including planting new greenery, spreading bark, painting playground areas, and completing general campus clean-up and beautification tasks. These efforts help create welcoming, well-cared-for learning environments for students, staff, and families.

“This collaborative effort is a powerful testament to the deep, long-standing relationship between our district and the dedicated faith-based organizations in Yakima,” said Omar Santoy, Executive Director of Student Services for Yakima School District. “Their service goes beyond physical improvements; it reinforces the sense of community and pride that creates welcoming, well-cared-for learning environments for all our students.”

In total, the effort represents hundreds of service hours devoted to enhancing school spaces that serve students every day. District leaders emphasized that the impact goes beyond physical improvements, highlighting the sense of partnership and community pride created through the collaboration.

Yakima School District extends sincere gratitude to every volunteer and organization participating in this effort and recognizes their generosity, teamwork, and dedication to students and schools in Yakima.
