Colorado Springs, CO — The 26th Annual YMCA Turkey Trot 5k race occurs on Thanksgiving morning, November 23rd, 2023. The ever-popular Colorado Springs Thanksgiving Day tradition has a record of 3,000-plus registrants with runners from 13 states. Registration is still open; visit ppymca.org/raceseries for details.
The Turkey Trot is part of the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region's Annual 5K Race Series and takes place at the Briargate Family Y at 4025 Family Place, Colorado Springs. The 5k race starts at 9:00 a.m. and is stroller and dog-friendly. For the kids, the free Tiny Trot race kicks off just prior at 8:15 a.m.
Packet pickup (including the Turkey Trot long-sleeve commemorative race T-shirt) will occur at the Briargate YMCA gym from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, and Wednesday, November 23. Runners can also pick up their packets the morning of the race; however, there is no guarantee that race T-shirts will still be available.
A holiday season tradition, the race series raises needed funds for the YMCA programs. All proceeds help individuals and families in the Pikes Peak Region gain access to programs such as child care, swim lessons, and youth sports.
The Turkey Trot 5k is fun for the whole family, and costumes are encouraged. Registration is still open at ppymca.org/raceseries. The series' final race, the Jingle Jog 5k, takes place on December 9, 2023, with more information at the link provided.
The YMCA thanks the 5k Race Series sponsors, including Kaiser Permanente, Dave & Buster's, Underline, Creative Consortium, Fleet Feet Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Sports Corp, Fox 21, and Natural Grocers. For more information, visit ppymca.org/raceseries.
