Woodland Public Schools Staff Packed And Delivered Nearly 1,600 Meals For Area Children-in-need (Photo)

Wednesday, March 18, 2020-Woodland, WA-Woodland Public Schools started food delivery service for our families on Wednesday, March 18. Food service staff prepared around 800 bags with both breakfast and lunch that were packed by an army of cooks, paraeducators, and other school staff.
KWRL school bus drivers, along with our paraeducators, drove throughout the Woodland community, delivering the meals free-of-charge to all children 18 years and younger.
The teams practiced strict social distancing guidelines:
- Meals were prepared with cooks following all COVID-19 food handling practices.
- At each bus stop, families stood six feet apart.
- A paraeducator on the bus would count the number of children in a family, place that many meals on the bottom step at the closed door of the bus, and then walk back up into the bus.
- The bus driver would then open the doors where the family could take the meals, all delivered with a no-contact approach to assist with COVID-19 prevention.
Up until Tuesday, March 24, families who would prefer to pick up grab-and-go meals for their children can do so at Woodland Middle School from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Both breakfast and lunch will be provided at the same time.
After Tuesday, the district will revisit food service and make any necessary changes.
