News Release
Case solved: School shooting threat on 9-27-24. - 09/30/24

Woodburn, OR:  On 09/27/2024 at about 12:15 PM, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) informed the Woodburn Police Department that a school shooting threat had been reported to them by TikTok, the popular social media outlet.

The FBI’s preliminary investigation revealed the post came from an address in Woodburn, Oregon. The FBI then turned over the investigation to the Woodburn Police Department.

A Woodburn Police Department School Resource Officer and a Special Agent from the FBI Portland Field Office responded to the address and spoke to the 14-year-old male Juvenile.  The juvenile and his parents were cooperative, allowing a search of the premises for any weapons in the house, of which there were none.

At about 9:20 PM, the juvenile was taken into custody for Disorderly Conduct I, a Misdemeanor in Oregon. He was transported to the Marion County Juvenile Detention Center and booked into their custody.

With the cooperation between two law enforcement agencies, the threat was immediately investigated and solved within hours of the TikTok report. Any further questions can be directed to the Woodburn Public Information Officer, Maricela Guerrero, ref Woodburn PD Case #24-012768.
