Woodburn OR- The Woodburn Police Department will conduct traffic safety enforcement on Friday, September 27, in conjunction with Washington State law enforcement agencies as part of a “One More Stop” emphasis after the line of duty death of a Washington State Trooper.
On March 2, 2024, Trooper Gadd was killed after being struck by an impaired driver on Interstate 5 (I-5) just north of Marysville, WA. Prior to the tragic incident, Trooper Gadd had messaged fellow officers he was going to meet up with them for a break after, “One More Stop.”
After sending the message, Trooper Gadd pulled to the shoulder of I-5 just north of his detachment office with the intent of seeking out one more speeding driver, one more potentially impaired driver – to make one more contact to prevent a future tragedy.
In the spirit of Trooper Gadd’s strong work ethic and dedication, the Woodburn Police Department will conduct enhanced patrols in solidarity with statewide efforts throughout Washington State to conduct traffic stops in his honor to continue in a shared mission of reducing dangerous driving behaviors to save the lives of the those traveling the roadways.
