News Release: Woodburn Police Respond To Shooting At Mega Foods (UPDATE) - 06/07/23

The victim is male. This information was not included in the earlier update this morning, leading some news agencies to report Noel Orozco Romero as female.

UPDATE 6/7

The victim was 39-year-old Noel Orozco Romero of Woodburn. For information regarding the suspect or the incident, please contact the Marion County District Attorney's office. 

UPDATE 6/4

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Details on the victim will not be released as next-of-kin have yet to be notified. While the investigation is ongoing, WPD can report there are no additional victims at this time.

The Marion County District Attorney’s Office has assumed jurisdiction over this investigation and will provide further details related to today’s incident as they become available.

Sunday, June 4, 2023 - Woodburn, OR - Woodburn Police are currently responding to a shooting involving one suspect and one victim that took place at approximately 4:00 p.m. at Mega Foods located at 1542 Mt Hood Ave, Woodburn, OR 97071. 

Police have taken the suspect into custody, do not believe there are any additional suspects involved, and thus no current threat to public safety.

This is an active investigation – no further details are available at this time.
