News Release
West Linn Police Department to continue extra DUII and Distracted Driving patrols thoughout the new year - 01/08/19

The West Linn Police Department will continue to work enhanced DUII patrols in the month of January, 2019. These enhanced DUII patrols are funded through a grant administered by Oregon Impact. This month (January 2019) the West Linn Police Department has already arrested 6 drivers for DUII, and it is only January 8th. In addition, The West Linn Police Department is also focusing on Distracted Driving. A Distracted Driver crash occurs every 2.5 hours in Oregon. Here is one example why Distracted Driving is so dangerous: The average time a driver’s eyes are off the road is 5 seconds. When driving 55 miles per hour, 5 seconds is enough time to drive the length of a football field!

The City of West Linn is regularly named one of the safest cities of its size (around 25,000) in the nation. The West Linn Police Department is proud of this ranking, and we believe our enhanced DUII and Distracted Driving patrols have contributed to keeping the citizens in and around the city safe.
