WSU Vancouver hires new Business Growth MAP Manager (Photo) - 09/19/18

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Kirsten Fanning has been hired as the Business Growth Mentor and Analysis Program manager in the Carson College of Business at Washington State University Vancouver.

Created in 2011, the award-winning Business Growth MAP helps local small businesses and entrepreneurs succeed while providing educational opportunities for Carson College of Business students. As manager of the program, Fanning will oversee the pro-bono student consultancy, a monthly small business forum and an educational course for small business owners.

“Kirsten prides herself on her strategic thinking and ability to tackle any problem set before her. Her passion for community engagement will prove a valued asset in her new role,” said Jane Cote, academic director for the Carson College of Business.

Business Growth MAP Advisory Board Chair and mentor Susan Edwards said she’s excited to welcome Fanning into the role. “She’s sensitive to the students’ role because she has only been out of school a short time, as well to the businesses’ role because she has spent time in the business world as well. She’s efficient and has the ability to see things from 60,000 feet and plan accordingly.”

Fanning graduated from WSU Vancouver in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration focused in management information systems. An internship was her beginning at adidas, where she was later hired to work in financial reporting and business analytics prior to accepting the Business Growth MAP position.
