WSU Vancouver to honor women who inspire and empower at Women of Distinction event - 03/21/18

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- In celebration of Women's History Month, Washington State University Vancouver will honor women who have inspired others at its annual Women of Distinction event. The celebration and reception will begin at 6 p.m. March 29 in Firstenburg Student Commons. The event is free and open to all registered guests. Parking passes will be given to registered guests. To RSVP, visit events.vancouver.wsu.edu/women-distinction.

The keynote speaker will be WSU first lady Noel Schulz, professor in the WSU School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture. A nationally recognized expert in her field, Schulz is dedicated to recruiting, retaining and mentoring women in engineering professions. She will discuss how advancing women across WSU is a team sport; both men and women can be advocates for women by discovering their potential to help make WSU an inclusive learning and work environment.

All 45 Women of Distinction nominees will be recognized for inspiring, mentoring and empowering others. Three Distinguished Woman awards will be given in the following categories: WSU Vancouver student, WSU Vancouver faculty or staff, and community member. Award recipients are selected by a committee comprised of community and WSU Vancouver representatives.
