WSU students from across the state join forces to lobby for higher education - 01/17/18

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Washington State University and the Student Government Council will participate in the annual Coug Day at the Capital on Jan. 22. Ninety-five students from each of the six WSU campuses will ascend on the Washington State Capital to lobby legislators for higher education. This year students will have meetings with 110 legislators from across the state.

WSU Vancouver will bring 22 students from the 49th, 18th and 17th legislative districts to meet their legislators. During this event, students will lobby on issues related to open educational resources, affordable child care for college students, student loan rights and other issues.

The SGC is comprised of the Presidents, Vice Presidents and the Director of Legislative Affairs from the all six WSU campuses. The SGC sets an agenda to discuss issues facing WSU students and works with legislators to find solutions.
