MEDIA ALERT: WSU Tri-Cities Institute for Northwest Energy Futures open house and ribbon cutting event showcases efforts to meet the clean energy challenges of the future - 10/01/24

  • When:  Wednesday, Oct. 2, 4:30-6 p.m.
     
  • Where:  WSU Tri-Cities Institute for Northwest Energy Futures (INEF), 2892 Pauling Ave., Richland, WA 99354 (located off George Washington Way just north of University Drive)
    • 200+ guests are expected so plan to arrive early. Reserved parking for media will be available in the INEF parking lot,
       
  • Why:  Great photo/video opportunity. Meet WSU Tri-Cities INEF leadership and learn how the institute is working to bring a systems approach to coordinate all the individual efforts taking place as we transition to clean energy.
     
  • Who:  Speakers include WSU Tri-Cities Chancellor, Sandra Haynes; Congressman Dan Newhouse; Gov. Jay Inslee; Senator Matt Boehnke; WSU President, Kirk Schulz; and WSU Tri-Cities Institute for Northwest Energy Futures Inaugural Director and Bob Ferguson Endowed Professor, Noel Schulz.

    Attendees include State Representatives Stephanie Barnard, 8th Legislative District; Alex Ybarra, 13th Legislative District; Senators Nikki Torres, 15th Legislative District and Perry Dozier, 16th Legislative District; local elected officials, and representatives from throughout the WSU system related to energy research, education and outreach, industry partners, energy stakeholders and the community at large.

     
  • What:  WSU Tri-Cities Institute for Northwest Energy Futures (INEF) Open House and Reception
    • 4:35 p.m. - Welcome remarks from WSU Tri-Cities Chancellor, Sandra Haynes; Congressman Dan Newhouse; Senator Matt Boehnke; WSU President, Kirk Schulz; and WSU Tri-Cities Institute for Northwest Energy Futures Inaugural Director and Bob Ferguson Endowed Professor, Noel Schulz.
       
    • 5 p.m. - A proclamation and ribbon-cutting by City of Richland Mayor, Theresa Richardson
       
    • 5:15 p.m. - The reception will take place in the high-bay where guests can enjoy refreshments, embark on a self-guided tour, network and learn more about INEF and other WSU energy related research activities across the state.
