News Release
Monmouth: Making Spirits Bright, Come Celebrate the Holiday Season (Photo) - 11/05/18

Monmouth: Making Spirits Bright is an inaugural family-fun celebration held in Monmouth from November 24-30. The festivities start at noon on November 24 at Main Street Park with festivities that include a holiday bazaar, seasonal entertainment, and kids’ crafts corner.

Visitors will see the town aglow as the businesses compete for the coveted Griswold Award. Shoppers can pick up their Polar Express Passport to Prizes at the information booth in the park and visit participating businesses to have their passports stamped. Completed and returned passports will be entered into a drawing for valuable prizes, with the winners being announced at the end of the day. At dusk, Main Street Park will come alive with the lighting of Santa’s Workshop and Gingerbread Village.  Businesses will continue to offer seasonal specials throughout the week.

Monmouth: Making Spirits Bright culminates on Friday, November 30, when Western Oregon University celebrates its 51st  Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, which features a community parade, musicians from local schools, and photos with Santa. Monmouth: Making Spirits Bright will enhance the special evening with community events (food trucks, later hours for businesses, the announcements of Gold, Silver, and Bronze Griswold Award winners, and the continuous dazzling display of holiday lights in the park and throughout downtown).  Monmouth will continue to remain “lit” during the holiday season.

Monmouth: Making Spirits Bright is a cooperative effort of the City of Monmouth, Western Oregon University and Monmouth Business Association. Many Monmouth businesses and community members have also been actively involved.
