Vancouver Police Invstigate Kidnapping

Vancouver, Wash. – On October 7, 2026, at around 3:15 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to the 3500 block of SE 164th Avenue for the report of a kidnapping. A woman called 9-1-1 to report her husband had gotten into a vehicle in Portland with four males in a black Suburban who had approached him, asked him if he wanted to make some money and that they needed him to cash a check for them. The victim agreed and got into the vehicle but became concerned about his safety and was not allowed to leave. The vehicle traveled into Vancouver and the victim was able to provide his location to his wife who relayed the information to dispatch.
Vancouver Police and the Washington State Patrol responded to the area and located the vehicle traveling on SE 164th Avenue toward SR-14. A traffic stop was conducted, and four occupants were detained. The victim was located on foot, uninjured a short distance away by the Washington State Patrol.
Akeem J. Mattis, Dennis D. Nelson, Corey D. Jenkins and Jerome T. Boyd were arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail for second degree Kidnapping.
