Vancouver Police investigate arson and assault - 07/03/20

Vancouver, Wash. –On July 2, 2020, at approximately 10:24 p.m., Vancouver Police responded to a vehicle fire in a parking lot at 2901 NE St. Johns Blvd. When officers arrived they also located a 63 year old male suffering from burns. According to witnesses, the victim was sitting inside his vehicle and an unknown male approached the vehicle and poured gasoline on both the vehicle and the victim. The victim gets out of his vehicle and the suspect lights the vehicle on fire, which engulfs the victim in flames. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment for his burns.

The Vancouver Police Department Major Crimes Unit is investigating. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police Department Tip Line at 360) 487-7399.

The investigation is ongoing and nothing further is releasable at this time.
