Vancouver Police investigate child's death - 11/03/18

Vancouver, Wash. –On November 2, 2018 at approximately 5:00 p.m.,Vancouver Police responded to the Madison Park Apartments, 12901 NE 28th St., to assist EMS personnel.  When officers arrived, medical personnel were preparing to transport a 5 year old female who was unconscious and had severe head trauma. The child had been in the care of her mother’s boyfriend, Ryan Burge, that evening and initial information provided to officers was the child had injured herself while having a tantrum.

She was transported to Peace Health Medical Center however, due to the significance of her injuries, she was transported to Randall Children’s Hospital in Portland.  Shortly after arrival, she was declared deceased.

Detectives from the Vancouver Police Major Crime Unit and Children’s Justice Center were contacted and later arrested Ryan M. Burge, 37, for Murder II.

The investigation is ongoing and nothing further is releasable at this time.
