News Release
Vancouver Police arrest event ticket forgery suspect - 11/23/17

Vancouver, Wash. -- Over the past several weeks, multiple victims in Vancouver and Portland reported buying event tickets, ranging from sporting events to Disney on Ice, from a subject associated with a green sedan. Alert purchasers took photographs of the seller and recorded the license number of the vehicle. At least two victims presented the tickets at the venue, learned the tickets were forgeries, and were rejected at the ticket window. Those purchasers found online commentary and matching photos from additional victims and the resulting social media attention and detailed description information led to identification of the suspect.

On 11/22/17, detectives with the Vancouver Police Department Neighborhood Response Teams served a warrant at the Vancouver residence of Ahmad Shahrokh, 30, on allegations of forgery, theft, and possession of controlled substances. Images of forged tickets and evidence of communication used in these incidents, as well as preparation for additional incidents, were recovered.

Thanks to the excellent and detailed collection of information from reporting parties, collaborative efforts via social media, paired with a thorough investigation, Shahrokh was arrested and booked into the Clark County Jail for three counts of Forgery, Possession of a Controlled Substance-Meth, and Possession of a Controlled Substance-Heroin. Additional charges are expected for cases related to victims in Oregon.

The Vancouver Police Department reminds anyone purchasing event ticket to use caution when buying tickets from unauthorized purchasing sites and to always carefully review any ticket documentation for indications of fraud. Indicators may include missing information, multiple tickets that have the same bar code numbers, or formatting or fonts used that are uneven or unusual.
