Salem, OR, (Feb. 21, 2023) - Keith Neaman, MD, current president of the Marion-Polk County Medical Society (MPCMS) presented the MPCMS President’s Award to David E. Shaw, MD, for his outstanding work in orthopedic surgery for overseas medical missions with Capital City Medical Teams

Dr. Shaw graduated from Christian Medical College in 1963 and The TamilNadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. He has served his community and beyond with over 60 years of experience in the medical field.

Currently on a medical mission in India, Dr. Shaw accepted his award from afar and attendees watched a recorded acceptance speech. He shared a story that gave a glimpse into his meaningful work. He quoted a patient who had been crippled his whole life before receiving care from Dr. Shaw, saying, “Dr. Shaw, thank you for doing all of this. But it was not only my knee that you corrected, it was my dignity that you restored.”

A part of receiving the President’s Award includes a $1,000 donation to a charity of the recipient's choice. Dr. Shaw chose to give back to the organization that allows him to partake in lifesaving medical missions, Capital City Medical Teams.
