Media Advisory: Salem Rotary Clubs to host Triathlon/Duathlon and Run Sept. 15 (Photo) - 09/06/19

Salem Rotary Multi-Sport Riverfest

 WHAT: A multi-sport event in Salem, Oregon. 

  • Olympic and sprint distance triathlon (swim/bike/run) 

  • Duathlon (run/bike/run)

  • 5K and 10K run

  • 1K Family Fun Run past the Peter Courtney Bridge and around the Eco-Earth Globe.

WHO: Over 250 athletes and community members competing.


  • Athletes swimming in the Willamette River

  • Elite athletes working towards personal records

  • Para-athlete team:

    • Emmy Pfankuch, para-athlete with Spina Bifida, in the duathlon with a track racing chair

    • Hadassah Benson, visually impaired athlete racing on a tandem-bike 

    • Kayla Bolnick will also complete the duathlon in a track racing chair

  • Large community, all-ages gathering in a positive, healthy-living event.


  • Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019
  • All-day (swim briefing 7:50 am, events starting at 8 am)
  • Day of race registration is available for the run.

 WHERE:  Salem Riverfront Park, 200 Water St NE, Salem, OR 97301.

WHY:   The event is presented as a community service by the Rotary Clubs of Salem and South Salem. Proceeds will be used to support Rotary’s community and international service projects that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, support education and grow local economies.
