On July 28th at approximately 2:30am the Vancouver Fire Department was dispatched to Greenwood Manor Apartments located at 3701 E 18th street for an apartment fire. Four fire engines, two ladder trucks, a squad and two battalion chiefs all responded. Due to the close proximity to fire station 2, engine 2 arrived with in a few minutes to find a two-story apartment building with fire showing from the second floor rear window. Firefighters quickly deployed fire hose to the rear of the building and applied water from the outside.

As additional crews arrived on scene, Firefighters were able to go inside and fight the fire that was spreading to the attic space and two other units. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control in 20 minutes with no injuries reported to civilians or pets.

There were five families displaced due to the fire and the American Red Cross is assisting them with accommodations.
