Firefighters from the Vancouver Fire Department were dispatched at 8:15 pm Saturday evening for an apartment fire at 5909 NE 102nd ave at the nobl park apartments. Initial reports from residences calling 911 were that somebody was still inside of the apartment and they couldn’t get out. First arriving crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the backside of the first floor apartment. They stretched hose lines to knock down the fire from the outside while more firefighters arrived on scene to go inside of the apartments. One adult male was transported by AMR and a firefighter paramedic to a local hospital with serious injuries. All residents of the two involved apartments were able to escape. The Vancouver Fire Chaplain assisted a total of 6 people in working with Red Cross. No firefighters were injured and the fire was under control in about 15 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office.
