News Release
Morning accident partially closes Padden Pkwy at 94th Ave - 01/11/22

At 7:35 this morning, two engines and a ladder truck from the Vancouver Fire Department were dispatched to a tip-over accident involving a car-carrying semi on Padden Parkway west of 94th Avenue. First arriving units found the trailer holding five automobiles and one motorcycle on its side and the tractor tilted to one side at approximately 40 degrees. It was leaking diesel fuel from damaged fuel tanks.  An ambulance from American Medical Response made initial contact with the driver and reported him to be uninjured. Fire crews used telescoping rescue struts to stabilize the semi tractor and catch basins to prevent more fuel from making it onto the roadway. One of the Vancouver engines was staffed with Hazardous Materials Technicians and worked with Clark County Sheriff’s Office on scene to contact Washington State Department of Ecology to coordinate cleanup of approximately 40-50 gallons of diesel fuel that spilled onto Padden Parkway. The accident blocked three lanes: one east-bound, one west-bound, and one turn lane. The Vancouver ladder truck remained on scene until 9:10 AM to keep the vehicle stabilized enabling TLC Towing company to safely place cables to bring the tractor and trailer upright.
