At 0353 this morning 7 units from the Vancouver Fire Department were dispatched to a reported structure fire in a residence in the 4000 block of East 18th street in Vancouver. A passerby called 911 and reported seeing smoke and fire coming from the front of the home. The first arriving Vancouver Fire engine arrived 4 ½ minutes later as the closest fire engine to this address was on another emergency call in the area at the same time. They arrived to find fire coming from the front of the home and deployed a hose line to knock down the fire, crews then went inside for a search of occupants and located a female  that was removed and treated for smoke inhalation, her condition is unknown at the time of this press release. A total of 16 Vancouver Fire personnel worked to control this fire and had the fire under control in less than 10 minutes. The Vancouver Fire Department would like to remind residents to always have working smoke detectors in your home and check them regularly.
