Vancouver Fire saves a multi-unit apartment building (Photo) - 10/11/20

The Vancouver Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 3409 NE 62nd Ave in Redwood Acres apartments at 03:48.  In addition to our initial alarm a second alarm was struck.  Our first on scene units arrived quickly at 03:53, a five minute response.  This is the second structure fire of the shift for many of the crews.    The first arriving crews were able to see fire from down the street.  Upon arrival crews worked quickly to knock down the fire on the first and second floor apartments while at the same time completing searches and evacuating the remaining units in the building.  After 37 minutes of battling the blaze, the fire was deemed to be under control.  The building was saved.  The second alarm was canceled.  VFD had 27 people on scene.   Red Cross was called to assist the people in the 4 affected units to find shelter.  No injuries were reported.  Vancouver Fire Marshal 1 & 4 are on scene to investigate.
